I'm sorry but I can't disagree more about pointing the rod at the fish. If you are not fishing with the right gear than you are doing more harm to the fish if you plan on releasing it. With the right rod you can guide the fish to the boat and then do whatever you want with it. Fishing with underpowered rods and expecting the line to do the work is...well, I just don't agree. That's just my two cents. Sure it can be done but why? If you want a better fight then grab a fly rod, even then you would never point it at the fish. Rods are designed to accommodate the weight of the fish you are catching, baits you are using, line test, etc. I'm all about the fight but getting it back in the water safely is important also.
I won't sell a rod that can't handle the fight of a bass. If your fishing with a rod that can't handle a bass I don't see the sport in it. If you are afraid of your rod bending too much than you are not fishing with the right rod. I would be more than happy to give you a discount on a Powell rod, it would be worth it to me for you to see the difference. I apologize for venting.
