The little sunfish was only about 60lbs or so. It would have made some points for the contest and still have the chance to live. I tried to convince him of that as I watched the last 30 yds leave my spool.
Since everyone was fishing squid at the time and scaring the hell out of the school of sunnies, I decide to flyline a Gulp Sandworm. He took it hook, line, and sinkerless.
I saw a sunfish last year that was pushing an easy 500lbs. The Capt of the boat yelled out on the PA "DO NOT HOOK THE SUNFISH." "IT WILL SPOOL YOU BECAUSE I WILL NOT CHASE IT FOR ANYONE"!!!!!
I decided to take my chances with a baby one and still lost all the 15lb Ultra Green off of my Avet SX.[cool]
