Is there a boat ramp at hobbs reservoir for a good sized aluminum drift boat? I would have to drive up to it.

Unless they have made improvements from last winter then that would be a big negatory. You'd have to carry whatever watercraft you have down a steep hill to the pond.

And I think that the only authorized parking area is about a quarter-mile downstream, too. Since it is technically a privately-owned ski lake, I don't think they can boat-restrict it - but you have to pack in whatever boat you want to use.

That's correct. I forgot that. Thanks!
Note that there is a limit of two trout under 15". All larger trout must be released. No mention of restrictions on other species. I'd fish it for bluegill and bass if I went. I've looked down on that pond for years when driving nearby and have always wanted to fish it. Think I'll walk the banks there this spring sometime. [signature]

You must sign in to fish there even if you are shore fishing. Funny rule but I guess that they want to know who is there.

I ice fished there a couple of times last winter. Caught a lot of trout, all in the 4-6" range, really skinny little guys. I read awhile back they were going to try to make it a trophy fishery, but I just don't see how that could happen. It's not deep there (deepest part we could find was 14') and I don't see how the pond could support enough food for trout of size.

I am a person who never keeps fish (except for tasty perch). The big reason I want to fish it is for the 25" cutthroats they stocked in there. I am a die hard fly fishermen spinner fishing and especially bait fishing seriously disgusts me so I am very glad about the no bait rule. Bluegill and Bass yuck why catch those when you can catch trout (besides I know a place down the street where I can catch as many bluegill as I want).

Again I don't see how 25" cuttys could survive in there for long. [signature] |
