Does Hobbs Reservoir Have boat access - Envenomation09 - 02-14-2013 Is there a boat ramp at hobbs reservoir for a good sized aluminum drift boat? I would have to drive up to it. You'd have to carry whatever watercraft you have down a steep hill to the pond. Since it is technically a privately-owned ski lake, I don't think they can boat-restrict it - but you have to pack in whatever boat you want to use. All larger trout must be released. No mention of restrictions on other species. I'd fish it for bluegill and bass if I went. I've looked down on that pond for years when driving nearby and have always wanted to fish it. Think I'll walk the banks there this spring sometime. Funny rule but I guess that they want to know who is there. [signature] Re: [RockyRaab] Does Hobbs Reservoir Have boat access - AFFamily - 02-14-2013 I ice fished there a couple of times last winter. Caught a lot of trout, all in the 4-6" range, really skinny little guys. I read awhile back they were going to try to make it a trophy fishery, but I just don't see how that could happen. It's not deep there (deepest part we could find was 14') and I don't see how the pond could support enough food for trout of size. The big reason I want to fish it is for the 25" cutthroats they stocked in there. I am a die hard fly fishermen spinner fishing and especially bait fishing seriously disgusts me so I am very glad about the no bait rule. Bluegill and Bass yuck why catch those when you can catch trout (besides I know a place down the street where I can catch as many bluegill as I want).
