Just curious if anyone has any information on if any of the ramps have been plowed of ice in the challis area? I was up there about a month ago and thought it would be a late start to the drifting/steelhead season in that area, but with the warm temperatures I thought I would see how things were looking. Feel free to PM if you prefer. If I get any additional info elsewhere I will post my findings.
Thanks

Almost never ice at the deer gulch boat ramp as the pahsimeroi is spring fed and about 43 degrees coming in a mile above. Very seldom ever any ice in that area anyway. It represents about 35% of the water entering river and water is usually over 33 degrees below even in dead winter.

Just got back from challis, fished a few miles above deer gulch. As you mentioned that area is ice free. Above challis is a differen story. 3 miles of sold ice with 6-8 foot walls of ice on the bank. Going to be a bit before some areas open up. Fishing was slow, but did manage to catch a couple. River ran slush until 11 am this morning.
