Pineview fast action
#1
We fished Pineview Last night and were able to get in to the fish. We fished where everyone else has been having success off cemetery point. The fish were in 40' of water. We got there a little before 6 and it started off slow. The finder only showed a few single marks and we were ready to move after only icing a few in the first 45 minutes. Luckily we waited for a few minutes more because things picked up and they really started to fill the sonar covering 5' of the bottom. The bite was a lot more aggresive you could have felt them without the wire strike indicator. We caught our limits with most of them being caught between 8 and 9 pm. When we left the bite was still going strong. I feel like glowing lure made a difference.
I included a pic of the keepers and the cozy inside of the hut.

What size of lure, and what were you using for bait? I got into some fish as well but only had a few aggressive hits all night. Most were super light. I was using an ice fly and waxies below a glow Ratfinkee. No glow on the ice fly. Thanks for the report and glad you got into a few!

Good for you guys. Love those hot moments.

I agree. I wouldn't even try it without a glowing lure.

We were using wax worms and a swedish pimple with glow tape. They weren't all hard hits but they seemed to be hitting harder as the night went on.

Thanks for the info. I have some of those Swedish Pimples, maybe I'll give them a shot next time out!

Small hook and 1 wax worm or a half meal worm. last night they wanted wax worms but last week they liked the meal worm better. Dont forget the wire strike indicator and watch real close.

The location I fish at Pineview has been so hot this year that we don't even tip the hook because we catch them so fast! We haven't even been able to use two poles because they attack so quickly. Just a small tungsten is all it takes right on the bottom. If you have a flasher it's fun to make them chase it a little... If only we could filet them as fast as we catch them!

Too bad the limit isn't more where you could take more of the little guys out of there.

Just for info -- I agree with another member who reminded us that all crappies coming up from 35 - 40 ft should be "keepers", as their air bladders are expanding and they can't get back down...;not a lot of meat on those smaller 8 inchers, but we're just killing them trying to force them back down...
