Treasureton ice does not look very pretty but it was solid and cracking loud yesterday. Soft edge. Not a single bite for half the day.

Do you know the conditions at Deep Creek? wondering if I need a plank to get onto the ice. Many places on that lake just a few feet out and your over your head if you fell in. thanks.

Not sure on deep creek but fish Glendale yesterday and the edges are bad about ten feet out the ice was 6 inch once I got on but it was milking the whole time caught 25 perch in a couple hours but I will not be going there any more because it's just not safe then we went to Johnson and the ice was only 4 inches and milking so it was unsafe but we caught 10 gills in 2 hours but I would not go there either as you could fall though it looks like ice fish could be done for the year it least down the Preston way

Thanks for the report.

That place seems to have gone down hill ever since the bass showed up.[:/]

I have only fished it since 2000 so I don't know how the fishing was when the bass were in there then. I do remember catching a nice brook trout in 2001 and have never caught one since. I'm assuming the IF&G treated the lake to remove the bass at one time or the reservoir was drained.

I'm not saying I don't like bass, I like catching anything that swims but it's too bad that the bucket biologists can't leave well enough alone.[:/]

Replying to my own post. Fished it on Monday. It was like the good old days when no one but me is fishing. Of course maybe that is a bad sign. As for the edges. it looked a little shady, but got on the ice no problem. Landed 10 for the day with most of them being this years planters. I left at 1:30, but might as well have been 11. There were a few bites between that time, but you couldn't hook them. It was warm. So warm in fact that I could tell all of the people that fished it on Sunday. The holes they drilled you could open it with a lite tap of the foot. You could also hear the river/stream just pouring into the lake. On the way out there was no snow left on the lake as well as a little water on the edges. But, got off no problem. However, the warm temperature made the little skim of snow into a muddy mess. I had to carry my sled up to the truck.

I think the ice is on its way out. Lots of rain and warm weather in the forecast.
