Met Carl around 9:00 New Years Day at Rivermont Park (Riverpark Ramp Closed) to see if we could find him a few panfish for supper. Pretty much had the whole river to ourselves. Very foggy and very cold with river flow around 85k. Gills were willing play with the Crappie not so much. Caught a lot of fish on various baits, Garlands, Kalins and a minnow jig combo. Fished until around 3:30 and only seen one other Boat that was fishing, but the number of cruisers going up the river was unreal for the water conditions. We did get a nice surprise while fishing with 4lb line and UL equipment. 3 nice Smallmouths. 2 around 3lbs and one we put on the scales that went 5lb 1oz. this is why I love fishing the river in the winter. Carl has some pictures he may post, have not got that figured out yet. Thanks carl for filling the back seat and hope you enjoyed your supper. PS If you go to the river with water this high Please use common sense and be safe.
