The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) creel census clerks reported continued good fishing following the NDOW trout plants in the Boulder Basin. Several anglers reported good success for striped bass throughout the lower basin from Vegas Bay to the 33-Hole.
Anglers have been enjoying good action in the Boulder Basin for striped bass with most of the activity taking place in Las Vegas Wash. Boaters have reported to NDOW that schools of threadfin shad are stacked in the area and stripers are feeding on the small forage fish.
Larry LaBree of Las Vegas said he has enjoyed recent success in Las Vegas Wash and around the 33-Hole by deep trolling with a Sassy Shad lure. Jigging and drifting with anchovies have also been catching fish.
Anglers fishing in the vicinity of Hemenway Harbor landed stripers that ranged from 10 – 13 pounds. The fish were taken with anchovies. Anglers also reported good success for stripers in the vicinity of Horsepower and Pumphouse Coves. The stripers ranged from 9 – 12 pounds and were taken with anchovies and threadfin shad.
NDOW is scheduled to stock Hemenway, Horsepower, Pumphouse and North Saddle Coves tomorrow (12/12/03).
LAKE MOHAVE
Fishing pressure continued to be heavy following the weekly trout plant at Willow Beach. Anglers reported good success for both striped bass and stocked rainbow trout.
Shore anglers continued to be successful for stripers that averaged 8 pounds and measured 28 inches. The fish were landed with Bomber Long-A lures. Rainbow trout that averaged 12 inches were also taken.
Fishing has been slow around Cottonwood Cove with only a few striped bass and channel catfish being seen by creel census clerks during the past week. Stripers weighing less than a pound are being caught above and below Cottonwood by boaters who are trolling and drifting with anchovies.
NDOW is scheduled to stock Placer, Cottonwood and Powerline coves and Willow Beach tomorrow (12/12/03).
