Powell vs Mead
#1
Does my estimate of 10 bass at Powell/1 bass at Mead sound about right to people on this forum? I went to Mead 4 times last winter and found large "dead" areas with nothing but carp. The only areas that had fish seem to be the inlet areas (virgin river). And also the only areas where people were fishing. By contrast Powell has fish pretty much everywhere.
Is this the future of Powell after the quaggas become established? That is depressing!
The clear water in Mead was very nice however.

Would love to try Powell one of these days. LOOONG haul up there. This time of the year we catch plenty. Between my daughter and I easy enough to catch 60-80 SMB and LMB in a day on the north end of Lake Mead. Nothing all that much to size but fun.

Powell is one of the greatest fisheries in the US in my opinion. We go every year for a week on a houseboat. UNBEATABLE!!! Scenery cannot be beat either! In actuality it is not that far. Maybe 4 hours to Page (Southern End), but we always launch up North at Bullfrog. If you have not been you are missing out. It is the Jewel of the Southwest!
