PACKED!!! but I managed to find a spot and set up. I got to use some new rods, gear, and bait today. I did not bank a fish I did however hook my first Lake Mead smallmouth today it was probly a pound and a half or so, it hit my new alabama rig on the second cast! I was so surprised the fish hit that I got a bad hook set. it came to the surface and shook the hook. then I was trying the human grade sardines I got at the international market.(which work great!) and hooked up on the first cast decent fish not huge but felt nice, but as I was bringing it in, on my brand new, first cast, fishing rod snapped.. loosing the fish instantly. messed around some more with the alabama rig had a nice lmb follow me up then dart off. lots and lots of strikes on the sardines but no more takers. ended up burnt up and smelling of skunk[pirate] I took a dip in the lake right before I left for a nice cool off. better luck next time [fishon]

Well as they say..... a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. Thanks for posting. How heavy are those A-rigs? Are they a pain to cast?

[cool] you are so right about that man had a great day off!! those A-rigs are actually fairly easy to cast and awesome to watch in the water, very realistic. I was using a med 6'6" ugly stick baitcaster with an abu black max reel spooled with 14lb big game, and I could have thrown it all day, I did have to adjust the brake and the C-brake on the other side but once I got it set I was chucking it out 30 yards or so. I was running all 5 lures but only 2 had hooks. I clipped the other ones off. and the baits were powerbait 3" realistix swim baits they sell a 5 pack at walmart for $2.97[fishon]
