No fake bite tricks for this report and really no Crappie of any size worth writing 'bout.....BUT I might have put a ole
on my buddy Spurs face while he was slaving away at work!
emoBig
So this report is for him and Eric M! I caught a catfish and I was actually trying to catch one too! However I still don't understand why you two want to wrangle with these beast! They mess your clothes up and nasty your boat. Plus you have to use these special heavy duty rods and reels and those special little sliver fish to put on these huge hooks.....I had a fairly decent guide today that did all that for me. ( emoThanks Kid) It reminded me alot about work, and it was work.......don't worry, I think I will stick to crappie fishing, but it was great to challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone.....might even try it again!emoBig
The first drift first one I caught I spent the first 5 minutes convincing the kid I actually had a fish on the hook, he insisted I was caught up on some rocks, "I never never knew a rock could put up a fight, but I have know some people with rocks in their head that could put up a fight." "I got a fish!" "I swear I got a fish!" I think this is how the "G- rated" conversation went!
"Hold on, and don't let any slack get in the line" as the guide used the boat and chased after this pile of rocks, while saying " emoBadLanguage, you do have a fish" It was quite the event from going after a crappie to a cat with the net my guide had, but we finally got that rock pile in the boat! Whew! I know it wasn't a monster like yours Spur and Eric, but to me it was better than going to curves for a work out! After a quick photo shoot, time to go catch another one.....I am hooked! emoAngler
Few more drifts and I catch another pile of pebbles (much smaller than the first cat).....My guide was now emoBadLanguage cause he wanted to catch one! NOT, this is my day Kid!
Lunch bell rang early time flies on the river doesn't it? We headed downtown where I called ahead for Tubby Burgers! Yum Yum emoHungry....Delivered right to the boat on the river front, doesn't get much better than that, unless you have your own grill on your boat! emoBig
We wasted a little bit of time looking for crappie, but TWK needed a crappie fix and when you pass a dock, well you have to at least shoot one jig under it and say you have been there! Back up river, leave it to the kid to find a lost rainbow trout, while fishing for bream. It was a 12" beauty, with a lost look in its eyes! Last time I saw one of those up close an personal was when my dad took me to fiery gizzard, I think was about 6 yrs old....Thanks Dad for showing up on my trip today emoSun
Great day, great food, and great catches all released! Thanks again Mr Nice!
