Went to Catalina Island today on the Premier out of Pierpoint landing. Danny skippered the trip with Jimmy doing the chef honors and mike working the deck. Truth is the whole crew works the deck when things get busy.
Got some really great bait in large sardines and anchovies. We fished the top 1/3 of the westside on the inside and did really well on the Calicos. We also got a number of Barracuda, Sheephead, tons of Opaleye Perch and...... I got the only yellow on the boat. Lots of yellows chasing bait on the surface and 10 pounders grabbing a bait and heading straight for the nearby kelp.
Windy just like yesterday. Water temp and color still not the best we could hope for. We did see the Sea Spray Freedom, and the Persuit.
On the way back, we saw some whales which we see almost every trip.
