Buyers beware
#1
I've got nothing against Shasta tackle company and I'm not trying to belittle them in any way! However I placed an order with them today and an hour or two later my credit card showed fraudulent charges. Some dill hole in Arizona got a hold of my information and went on a shopping spree. I sure wish there was something that could be done to prevent this and something that I could do to punish these low life pieces of junk! I'd love to go to Arizona find this s.o.b and kick them where the sun don't shine!!!

Wow, I placed an order with them on July 12th. After reading your post I just checked by credit card and so far so good.

Well just so everyone knows I can't and shouldn't point finger at this company, it's the low lifes I'm pointing the finger at! I'm in no way discouraging anyone from ordering from this company I just wanted everyone to be aware that this happened! It's so frustrating, now my bank account is frozen until next Wednesday because some idiot can't make an honest living like I try so hard to do. Glad to hear you didn't have the same issue Kent [Smile]

Sorry to hear that you get ripped off. Did you call them and tell them what happened? Could be one of their employees are selling customer credit card info and they don't know about it.

highly unlikley your CC number was jacked by the company if you got this stuff online sounds like its time for spybot:

and AVG:

edit: i should have read the replies. it is indeed possible an employee is selling card numbers.

I have not tried to get a hold of the company because I have been on the phone trying to sort this out with my bank. They will definitely be getting a phone call tomorrow from a concerned and down right pissed off customer. I have not purchased anything out of the ordinary until today so I'll bet your guess is right with a crooked employee

Curious how you know Shasta Tackle was the source of someone stealing your credit card?

That's rough, I'm sorry to hear that. Probably someone selling your digits, or a random occurrence.

Had my identity stolen a couple years back. got into my papal account. Having to close all of your banks accounts and passwords and restart is a huge pain in butt.

Hope it all works out!

I don't know for sure that this problem was associated with them, but like I said I've never had this problem before and have not used this card in awhile. I make one purchase this morning with them and a couple hours later I get my bank calling me asking about these charges. This was the first time I've ever purchased anything from this company and two hours later I have fraudulent charges, coincidence??? I think not!!!

[cool][#0000ff]Did you buy anything from Amazon.com recently?[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have had a couple of similar situations...both times after putting in an order to Amazon on a credit card that I had used nowhere else.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There are skilled hackers on the Internet that have ways of intercepting "secure" transmissions. They will usually try a small purchase on your card to see if it goes through. They they suck your account dry if your bank does not notice it and put a stop on your card.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Just had it happen on my Cabelas Club card. But got it stopped before any damage and had a new card in the mail within about 3 days.[/#0000ff]

That's funny you should ask because my wife made a purchase (first and only) through amazon.com for some school books about six months ago and her credit card was hacked. The worst part about this whole thing is the crooks get away with this and get to go on a shopping spree at the banks expense, or my expense if the bank doesn't catch it in time.

[cool][#0000ff]Unlike most online shopping services, Amazon keeps your complete credit card number on file and displays it for you to okay on your next purchase. Any hacker who can get into their files has access to the active credit cards of all customers.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I know for a fact that was where the problem occured with at least one of the "situations" I had because I had not used the card anywhere else. And I had good reason to suspect them on the second situation.[/#0000ff]

That makes me wonder if Shasta is keeping information available as well. That was the first out of the ordinary purchase I have made online in a long time, so that's why I suspect the problem came from that purchase. No matter how it happened I'm very frustrated because I had a fishing trip planned but now I'll have to stay close to home because most of my funds are frozen in the bank [crazy]

Hackers suck! One of my rod suppliers had their website hacked, I knew this because it said it was hacked right on the front page by the hackers! Luckily there was no online storage of personal information and everything was good. I hope everything works out good for you.
Cash is becoming a thing of the past and criminals are becoming quite internet savy.
