Went out to Govt wash on a whim last night. Soaked some anchovies and crawlers without any committed bites. The carp were jumpin so I soaked some corn.
I broke one off at the shore after getting excited and trying to horse it in. I forgot* for a second that I was fishing an ultralight with 4lb test.

So I rigged up more corn on a 6lb ultralight rig and let it soak.

There was bait being chased ashore so we threw some topwater plugs. I had two miss strikes but no hookups.

As we were packing up, I hooked into this one and patiently pulled him in. Great fight, 7lbs. [Wink]

Cool pics and nice report [cool] Those carp look like the perfect kitty bait maybe i'll try for them considering I have yet to catch a LM carp. What kind of rig do you use?

I also got a couple other questions.
Would it be dum to take a mustang to govt wash?
Could I just park off the end of the paved road & walk?

It would be a long walk! The end of the pavement is by the restrooms. The dirt road from there is graded most of the way for about 3/4mile. I drive my Ford Focus up to the water where I launch my kayak. Near the end just take it slow and you should be OK in the 'Stang. Unless you don't want to get your baby dirty Smile

I don't know what to belive the 4# line on the Carp or that a mustang (Found On Road Dead) might be destoyed on a dirt road...wait, what? the world ends next month.....Recalculating, Recalculating, Recalculating.

I use a single dropper loop, most prefer to Carolina rig. Either will work.
I get sick of listening to carp jumping around while I'm not catching anything. They've been taunting me all these years but I've got their number now, haha. Carp at lake mead present an opportunity to consistently catch 5 lb+ fish. Good practice for when I finally hook into the new state record smallmouth, heheh. Carp are relatively easy to find especially when you're shorebound. Pound for pound I think they fight aboutas well as any fish in mead.

You could take your stang down there. Try your best not to bottom out or get stuck. Other than that it's bad for your paint.[fishon]

I took my mr2 down some lake mead dirt roads. Dont remember if it was to gov wash or to crawdad cove. When I went down gov wash with my boat I think a car would be fine. That was last year and the road could have washed out by now.
