So who remembers me?
#1
Hey Guys...
Well, it's been a few years since I've been back there in the frozen tundra of good old Utah, but just thought I'd check in and see if there was anyone still posting on this thing that still remembers who I am! Well, recently, I've decided that I want to step up my fishing a notch and try to fish more and bigger tournaments. Mostly just some of the local trails like maybe FAN, Bass Champs, and the new Lone Star trail, but being as broke as I am, it's very difficult to do this without adequate funding, as most of you know. In an effort to try and get myself in a better position to approach potential sponsors and whatnot, a friend of mine has helped me to create a webpage for myself as well as a Fan Page on Facebook. Check them out!!! Here you can keep up on my tournament endeavors down here in sunny Texas!

My website - http://www.andermeine.com
My Facebook Fan Page - http://www.facebook.com/andermeine

If you check out the fan page then make sure to "like" it!

Hi Alex,

I remember you all the way back to when you were the SturgeonKid. Good luck on your tournament fishing.

Cool! There are still a few of you around! That makes me happy. [Tongue]

Things are going well here. Not much money getting made with the bassing so far, but I have made enough to basically cover my expenses... so can't complain with that I guess. I've mostly just been fishing small local stuff since I've been here to kind of build up my reputation here. Now I feel like I'm in a position to actually start looking for sponsors and fish some bigger stuff to actually make some money. So if you guys know anyone, put in a good word for me! And Pat, married life is fantastic. Can't complain. I'm just glad I picked one that puts up with my fishing well enough. [cool] Pat, I've also still got some of your baits around that you made up for me forever ago. They've even helped to win me some money here and there. Good stuff [Wink] I gotta say, my favorite bait that you made for me were these little buzzbaits with small clear tri-bladed blades. I put a smoke colored skirt on there, and I catch a ton of fish on that thing...

[cool][#0000ff]Yeah, those things worked well for me in Arizona wherever I needed a finess presentation on shallow bass in clear water. Good Powell bait along the shoreline...especially when the shad are spawning and the bass are chasing them.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Have you ever tried "in-line" buzzbaits? I make some with the buzzer blade on the same long wire as the body and beads...kinda like a big spinner with buzz blade. By using light body weights, a few beads and the right skirt you can work them either on top or run them just below the surface to create a fish-calling wake. Got a couple of guys here in Utah that claim they are better for the tiger muskies than standard top water noisy presentations. But I usually use the chartreuse blades for those.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Do you use the shakey jigs much? Got a son-in-law in Tennessee that uses them a lot. I got a mold for making up the heads. Usually put them on about a 2/0 or 3/0 red hook and he tears up the bass in his part of the country with them.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Good luck on the local circuit and hope you can find some sponsors and make the big leap. As you know, bassin' skill alone ain't what it's all about. You got the skills and experience. Now you just need to get some big company to throw some money and support at you.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Glad you found a fishin' tolerant gal to "hook up" with. Makes a fisherman's life a lot more liveable when he has an understanding spouse. I speak from experience.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Shouldn't be too long before the bass go on the beds down in your part of the country. We're still ice fishing. Hope you stick a few bigguns.[/#0000ff]

I was wondering whatever happened to you. Haven't heard from the sturgeon kid for along time. Good to hear that you are doing well![cool]

Yeah, you actually gave me a couple of the in-line buzzers. They've got a floating body on them with a small skirt on the back. I modified them just slightly though to include a hook in the mid-section hanging from the bottom of the floating body. The ones you gave me just had the single treble on back and I was missing a bunch of fish. It seems like most fish I catch on it hit the main body of the bait, so putting the hook there has helped the hook-up ratio. These baits work almost as well as that other little buzzbait I was talking about...almost. [Tongue]

And yes, I do throw shaky heads quite a bit. I actually caught the Big Bass of the Year for 2010 at 11.43 lbs in the club I fish with on a shaky head. There's a lot of good shaky heads out there that have some great qualities to them, but those things aren't cheap! $4-6 for a pack of only 3-5 jig heads just doesn't cut it for the types of places I like to throw those things. Most of the time when I'm throwing a shaky head, I'm throwing it around rock, and I have yet to find a shaky head that is able to not get hung-up. It's hard to come across some of the cheaper jig heads here that will work for going shaky head style, so when I find some I kind of load up. But yeah, I love fishin' a shaky head...

[cool][#0000ff]Probably should take this to the PM level. Shoot me your mailing address and I can send you a couple of samples of the ones I make for my son in law. If they work okay we can probably save you some money.[/#0000ff]
