So I had the surprise of my life this weekend while ice fishing for perch at Pineview Reservoir, UT. All of a sudden I hooked into something that I knew wasn't a 7" perch and thought it might be a tiger muskie or a carp. Imagine my surprise when I pulled this 20", 5lb pig of a Smallie out of the hole! This is the only small mouth I have ever caught while ice fishing and is the biggest bass I have caught period. It might seem like just an average fish to you BFT'ers back east but this is a big bass for Utah! The ice rod pictured is 24". Enjoy the pics!

[cool] very nice! good haul of perch too! I've caught alot of largemouth larger but never caught a 5lb smallmouth in my life. I think my biggest was about 3lbs.
Congratulations!

Very nice smallie you brought up. Should be a great tasting fish, this time of year. My biggest is 20" as well, so we in the east don't get the huge ones unless you go to Champlain. Can you imagine what it would have weighed if it was fat one in the fall. [cool]

You must have missed the last Winter Olympics.
Greatest Snow on Earth! Just check our license plates!
NOTE: first is a crappie, second is a bass - since this is the bass board. I didn't catch either!

Teehee - you could be right about that. I told ya I didn't take it, didn't photoshop it either, but doesn't mean someone else could have.
THESE are real crappie photos I did take.
(sorry - still off topic for the Bass Board. But Bass eat Crappie right? Just not once they are THIS size. [laugh])
