Dear Provo Thieves.......
#1
So... my morning started off fantastic this morning. I got to the Provo Home Depot just after 7:00 AM to purchase supplies for my job. By the time I came out of the store at 8:15 my entire ice fishing bucket was gone. This was just about everything I own for ice fishing (luckily not my QF4 or my sled) but all 5 of my rods, 3 clear tackle boxes with pretty much every jig head, ice fly, jig body, hook and sinker I have. It also had my green ice scoop, tape measure, pliers, and many other random items. Luckily, the Provo Police was able to get a shot of the guy on Home Depot's camera, and are looking for him. I am just hoping to speed up the process.... and I would hope it was no one on here but if you, or someone you know, took this... I am willing to give $100 to anyone who gets me info leading to an arrest or gets me my items back. Also, if you took it, I am more than willing to not press charges (which I am at the moment) with the return of my stuff... no questions asked. So, if anyone sees some gear that "someone" has recently acquired (white bucket with black & gold frabil rod, purple frabil rod, black ugly icerod, silver south bend rod, green scoop).... or anything else I mentioned, please keep it in mind.
And if you did it, I assure you I just want my stuff back... no questions asked... and you can have$ 100 and I will drop the charges (they are looking for you)!

Thieves suck. I hope the cops find him first. That would be the best of both worlds. You get your gear back and he gets what he deserves. [Image: angry.gif]

I hope you get your equipment back but after the cops get em. You would reward them and drop charges if they came clean. doesnt matter if they are on this board or not they are thieves

its cool you would be willing to drop charges on this guy/gal if they return your stuff. i personally hope the cops get them first, or, you some how find out who it was first make things weird.... involve one tube sock, a 3 foot section of garden hose, a 10 gallon bucket of vasaline, a wire brush, and a 5/8inch wrench. i think it will help convey the point that stealing is bad

Tell the Home Depot, they have cameras out in the parking lot. They will look at video for this type of stuff. Might be worth a shot.

Oh they do have cameras.... and the cops checked it out (wouldn't let me see personally, since if I saw who it was and hurt them, they would be partially responsible). They are working on it, that's why I figured if this person read this I would give them a chance to get off free. And, it is not that I want to reward a thief, but I do want my stuff back. And I do realize it would make things weird to meet the person who took my stuff.... so if anyone wants to give my things back (make a new screen name, send me a PM with a place, leave my stuff there at a certain time.... trust me I will be there ASAP, I will pick it up, and leave the money there).

P.S. I also added the reward in case someone knows who did it, and wasn't them. I would not want to have a person who knows something about it not tell me because there is not benefit to them and they didn't do it.

I hope you get that stuff back. I would go nuts if that happened to me.

Walmart is the same way with cameras. A friend of mine (not in this state) had her car backed into in the parking lot. The cops looked at the tapes but wouldn't let her see. There was a ton of damage to her car. Turns out, it was someone the cops knew, and they wouldn't do anything. Good hard tax money at work, huh?

Sorry your stuff got stolen...I have to ask.....was ur stuff in the back of a truck or not locked up?

I dont have any use for thieves, but if you leave anything of value out in the open for any period of time, someone is gonna come along withh sticky fingers.

Ive had stuff stolen before....nowdays...they are gonna have to work for it....!!!

stupid me I know .... it was in the back of my truck ,not locked up...I never really realized how much value there was in that bucket, and only plan on being in there 5 to 10 minutes. lesson learned.... it won't be left back there alone again. and thank you for the offer fuzzy. You tell me when and where, and i would love to fish with you. and that is a very nice gesture... thanks

Once again Bowhunter...sorry this crap happened...maybe some good...raise awareness for bft members to lock things up.....u might check out ksl and classifieds for ads of someone selling ice fishing gear. I think usually someone who steals stuff like that is too lazy to actually go out and use it...probably figured they could make a few easy bucks.

Wow, remind me to never steal anything from you! Smile

Seriously though, petty thieves like this suck! It reminds me of when someone stole a hubcap off my acura integra (that was parked in my driveway!). Not only did I feel violated, but I was also pissed off to find out that the ten year old hubcap would cost $90 to replace... for a freaking hubcap! [mad]

BTW...
If you ever invent the next incredible must-have fishing lure and decide to promote it using trade show marketing, take my advice at your first big trade show exhibit and make sure you use the right trade show bait. Trade show success and fishing success have a lot in common!

Can't trust people now days [:/] Sorry your gear was stolen. I'm glad they got a picture of that sob so they can track him down, lets hope they do. Just my opinion but you should not drop any charges even if your gear is returned. The thief made that choice when they took your stuff and now they have to pay. People will never learn if you give them a get out of jail free card. Just my 2 cents.[cool]

Looks like I'm not the only one! Apparently people can surprise even the cynical me. Last week I was fishing the pumphouse area and I landed some 6 white bass near a large family group of anglers. It was slow in that area so I walked a small distance away but still within sight and punched in some new holes. Started to to nail whities on every drop, the usual fun began. I did have a little weird feeling that maybe I should have left my backpack chuck full of gear and my ice chisel so far away from me, so I did glance back every so often. Everything seem fine and undisturbed. But the action was so fast I couldn't turn my head every second of course. Of course within minutes they also came right on over and wanted to borrow my chisel to chisel holes right next to me even though they had augers. I refused to allow them to borrow the chisel since I've had more than one incident of chisels sliding down holes. I was polite about it and told them their augers will work just fine. They start to pound on the ice with their auger hope it would create a hole. I almost cracked up, what a way to ruin the blades! But after the action slowed a little, I decided I'd better go back and get my backpack and gear and pick up the first few whities. Sure enough the family fishing that area was gone and so were my fish. I felt lucky the chisel and pack weren't taken as well, but it was still quite a shock to have something stolen in broad daylight like that right in my presence. From now on everything stays right next to me!

Ya, I would love to help too. If you are going to the Scofield tourney tomorrow and need an extra pole and a few jigs, watch for me. I don't have much, but you can borrow my extras. I'll be in a black tent with a polaris snowmobile with BFT stickers on it.

I also agree with watching KSL/Craigslist. I know there is a lot of stolen merchandise that ends up on these sites. Lots of crackheads and meth heads looking for a quick buck.

We'll keep our eyes peeled, too. Sorry.

Sorry to hear that buddy. You know I would let you use my stuff anytime we fish together, I just wish we could stuff the SOB that decided your stuff was up for grabs then put them in the Cabelas display. I absolutely hate those people. I say take kochs' advice and hang them. Going fishing in the morning with Fullmoonfishin, hit me up lets get drunk and numb the sting and kill the skunk. We could meet wherever you want to.
