Got out to the area around 430am hiked down the trail and the weather was nice chilly but nothing we couldn't handle. Got to my spot and fixed up the gear for my nephew and his friend. Finally put my stuff together started out with the crawler. Throw it out and have no idea where it landed. Sit down and about 10 minutes into it i get hit hard, set the hook and what do you know my first MEAD striper. I give the fish to the nephew to put it on the stringer so i can cast out again. i tried recreating my steps to where i threw it. so after another 10 i get hit the same way, set the hook and HELLO, second fish of the day. continued using the crawlers but nothing for a hour so i decided to move further down the shore. got set up and the action was fair alot of mini bites but nothing good. I landed a baby cat. sucker hit me hard, reeling it in and i finally see it thing was about 6'',7'' tops, some how he got the hook off so couldn't take the pic. I landed another striper but not a keeper. Fished with the crawler and cut choves through the day but the crawlers were getting better hits. nothing more the rest of the day.
