The following info is just as much for others as yourself on account of you probably are already aware of the routine. I bought this reel in Japan. But, the US GL's AB's, etc. aren't interchangable. Good news... so far two guys have seen the FL on ebay and aquaman may help as he believes he has one so...... things are looking up.
I've actually had the frame of the reel replaced once! Plus better drags, handle, etc. ABU garcia doesn't want anything to do with repair so there is a great big repair facility in Ohio or Indiana that does warrantee repair and service for a whole bunch of different reel manufacturers.
How did I find out? I looked up the authorized warrantee repair addresses for a number of different manufacturers. There it was! Different departments but exactly the same mailing address. Veeeeeeerrrry Intereeeeeeeeesting !!
Living close to the shimano company here in southern cal, I've heard some great stories of the excellent service they provide if you go straight to their corporate offices with hat in hand and a
(legitimate) story!!! ha ha ha
I've got two Calcutta 400's now but those puppies are just too heavy to put on an a Team Diawa Power Mesh or a Shimano 7' HD flippin'/pitchin' stick and have the outfit balance right for my taste.
