Carpies
#1
I like to catch as many different species as possible. I recently caught my first common carp. I still haven't caught a grass or mirror carp yet. I think I've got an idea for the grass, but where does a fellow find a mirror. I think I've seen pictures on here of some mirrors (??) so are they just mixed in with the commons, or are they only in certain waters? (I wouldn't turn down any tips for where to find a grass carp for that matter either!) Any info would be great! Bear in mind I'm in northern Idaho So don't tell me to go to Blackfoot Res [Wink].

Good question. Utah's Yuba has them.

I don't know in N. Idaho so I will just play along and tell you the Cold Water area of the Snake for the Grass Carp.

Is it legal to fish for grass carp in ID? When I lived in WA, the department of wildlife had stocked sterile grass carp to eat weeds in many bodies of water, and fishing for them was against the regs.

I didn't realize Coldwater had Grass Carp, so far I've only seen commons and mirrors. I'll have to keep trying there [Smile]

Mirrors are just a mutation of the common carp and are found in the same waters.

We catch them on the fly at C.J, Strike from time to time, but it is a crap shoot, as they hand with the gang (common carp).
