"Slimey" super groupers

We couldn't find squid bait(good fresh stuff)for the Horseshoe so we took a tank of hot sardines to the Southeast Bank and fished for rockfish at around 300 feet. I places two hot dines on a setup with a 16 ounce sinker and dropped it into a cloud of life on the depth finder. We caught some real super groupers to 10 pounds. I have fished the Southeast Bank since the years right after WWll and I have never encountered "slimeys" of this quality on the Bank. Romero: I really believe that many small boat fishermen are missing some good fishing opportunities in our local waters. It looks to me that many small boaters look for fishing spots by following the fleet around or gather around the sportboats. During the sand bass spawn you need a cop to direct the boat traffic on the "Junction". There are literally hundreds of "small rocks" that support large halibut, calico bass, sand bass etc. With a little practice any small boater can learn to set over these spots and catch qualityfish.
