Kittens!
#1
[font "Courier New"][#000080][size 3]Kitten season has begun! It would be nice of mommy kitties could do all the work, but sometimes they can't - whether they get killed, first timers that just can't figure out what to do with the kits, or families just decide they don't want the extra cats (spaying would have prevented that, of course!), or any other reason.
SO! Now ANBAR (A New Beginning Animal Rescue) the rescue group I volunteer for is overwhelmed with kittens. We got 12 in, just today! As of right now, we barely got enough people to help out, but it's inevitable we'll need more.

Bottle feeding is rewarding, but also hard work! If you volunteer, be aware that this is a real commitment. Depending on age, kittens need to be fed every 4 to 6 hours... so they can't be left all day, while people go to work or school and run long errands.
We can supply the formula, but it's always better if the foster people help out and buy it themselves (we like the powdered, not the canned, KMR)
You can have pick of the litter, but not for free! There's an $85 adoption fee, which includes the first set of vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and coupons from Petco on supplies.

If kittens seem like too much work, but you still want to help take care of cats, you can foster an older one - let them live at your home, indoors only! We could also use daily volunteers at the shelter in Bountiful to help clean (scoop litter, laundry of blankets/towels, sweep/mop floor, etc.)

If you, or somebody you know, would like to help out, please do! Mostly we need people to foster, but even supplies are nice. Money donations are great, too!

For more details, you can call Julia (me) 801-628-2835 but I'll probably just direct you to the "bosses" in charge

Mods - if this post really shouldn't be put up, you can delete it. Just thought I'd give a try, as ANBAR is desperate! LOL [angelic]

Your post is just fine Dawn.

My mom called tonight to say we should bring the kids over early tomorrow as the mama goat was in labor. To be honest I do not miss bottle feeding animals in the spring so it's good there are people like you to do it.
