saw this ugly gal laying her eggs on the side of the road . i just stoped , snapped her pic and left her to do her business . she's a little over 18" long and about a foot wide , perfect stew size , but ya' gotta let thoes ma-ma's be .

yep turtle season dose not open up till july 15th

that looks like a box turtle from this angle. Bigest one I ever herd of. the biggest box turtle I ever saw was about 14 inches. I herd tell of some big boxxers but never seen one. to bad you did not have a helmet to set beside it for your photo shot for refference.

the snappers (males have bumps on thier backs) (femails backs are some what smooth the rim of thier shells in the rear are some what jagged) I will try to find the pic of a big femail I caugght some years back and share it here.

snappers have been known to reach in excess of 150 pounds and get bigger around than a 55 gallon drum; and live for more than 200 years.

they say you are what you eat, I tend to eat snappers when in season, so I must be ging to live a long time, but slow with the galls.[sly]
