Caugth my first walleye @ Deer Creek today, 18 inch fatty. Caught it on my trout rig. Drifting a worm behind my toon on the inside passage of the island. I think you could here me yellin from the otherside of the lake. It has been a goal of mine for a little over a year.
Any ideas on prep, I was thinking about Beer batter fish and chips.
Oh yea, the trout are still easy to catch @ deer Creek.

I caught my first walleye of the year yesterday at Yuba. I was doing the same thing as you. I was in my tube and kicking against the wind. I just dropped down a jig tipped with crawler and let it bounce along the bottom. I was pretty surprised to catch a walleye. I fish Yuba pretty regularly and haven't caught a walleye from my tube in years. I like to eat them just the way you cooked them up- very tasty.

Congrats, I prefer Shore Lunch to beer batter although beer batter is excellent. Just my preference. Its not as battery is why I like it more.

What's Shore Lunch? That a recipe or a brand? I mixed up a thick batter. I had never done it before so, I watched it on You Tube. Seemed easy enough. Salt, pepper, dash of season salt. egg and flour.

Shore Lunch is a brand, you can get it at Cabela's. Louisiana Fish Fry is also good. You can find it at most grocery stores. It's a dry mix- easy to use.

The batter you made sounds like what my Aunt makes and it's really good. Shore lunch is a brand name fish batter. Cabela's usually has it. I don't know if Sportsmans does or not. I tried Zatarans original and it was good as well. Not as good as Shore Lunch for my taste buds. I just happen to like it the best. Beer battering I used to really like but I think I over did it. Too much batter for my tastes. Everyone is different however. Give Shore Lunch a try and let me know if you like it.
