The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) Fisheries Restoration Grant Program is soliciting proposals for fisheries restoration projects in California's coastal watersheds. Proposal packages are due on May 15, 2009. The primary goal of this program is to ensure the survival and protection of coho salmon, steelhead trout, Chinook salmon and cutthroat trout in the state's coastal watersheds.
Funding for fiscal year 2009-2010 is expected to be approximately $12 million. Funding for proposals submitted under this proposal solicitation notice are subject to the availability of funds and approval of the Budget Act for the state fiscal year 2009-2010. Grant agreements will not be in place until the spring of 2010.
DFG's intent is to fund projects that are consistent with its Steelhead Restoration and Management Plan for California and the Recovery Strategy for California Coho Salmon. All documents needed to apply for these grants - including the application form, complete instructions and contact information - are available atwww.dfg.ca.gov/fish/Administration/Grants/FRGP/Solicitation.asp.
Proposals submitted by mail must have a U.S. POSTAL SERVICE POSTMARK no later than May 15, 2009. Proposals delivered by any other means (FEDEX, U.P.S., etc.), including hand delivery, must be delivered no later than 3 p.m. on May 15. All proposal packages must be addressed to Department of Fish and Game, 830 S Street, Sacramento, CA 95811.
In recognition of the need to help guide the preparation for sound restoration proposals, DFG has scheduled the following workshops for your assistance. Workshops for information on the Fisheries Restoration Grant Program will be held as follows:
