Cow Hunt
#1
Really had to hunt hard this year to fill my cow tag. It adds so much more to a successful hunt when you have to work hard for it. This year was no exception and persistence finally paid off. Had to take a little longer of a shot than I wanted but was still within my comfort range (380 yards). Had a fellow bfter with me (powmow1) and we both scored our cows Saturday morning amongst the rain /snow and fog. This hunt was particularly special for powmow1 as he shot his first elk ever. What a fun hunt, almost wore out my snowshoes this year.

Thanks everyone. We were between echo and wyo border. The snow depth varied quite a bit. I'd say anywhere from a foot all the way up to maybe 3-4 feet in some of the drifts.

Nice you guys. Cow elk is a good way to start gettin into elk hunting. My first was a cow. Just a couple years old so it tasted excellent. Still looking to shoot that elusive bull. Guess I'll try again this year.

Actually, I think they were short of the full blaze orange coveralls, with matching hat of course and orange earmuffs just for good measure [crazy].
Nice kill boys, now the real work begins [Wink].

Chad,
Next time PM me before you apply, I have a spot that doesn't require half as much work, but the hunt is during the rutt and it's a blast!
