We'll the guys are getting out up here this weekend , Iv'e heard that the average ice on the middle size lakes , and smaller are, 4-8 inches . but be very , very cautious cause someone drowned on Pelican Lake by Brainard yesterday. I would give it till next weekend just to be safe! Also , Dave has some safty tips on his "Tips of the day" thread !

Remember , no ice is totally safe !!!!!!!

no walkable ice in South East Michigan

I have seen some small 5-12 acre ponds capped over, but we are having 40 degree days on top of the 20's at night make for gumby ice.

so deffenantly tread lightly..

Hey Flagman ong time no see how yea been holding up ?

was out checking ice depths last week some lakes had 3-5" while others had more most of it depends on how deep the lake is ..

some of the guys have been on the ice in so east mich as well, "carying life jackets and ropes"

with jobs leaving the country they figure they aint got much left to loose.
