I've hit Black river in Petoskey and 6th street in GR. Havn't seen any fish yet. Havn't heard of any being caught either.
Sounds like you hit most of the spots I normaly do during the season. Have pole, waders and net... will travel. [ ]

Here ya' go .
Roosterfish and I hit Tippy friday after work , fished till saturday around 1P.M. .
In all that time we saw one female landed on friday another hooked and lost just as the rain hit on saturday .
The fish looked like they had been in the river for some time , musta been an early wave of fish .
We used flys , spinners ,hotn'tots, waxeys, leaches , worms , and spawn bags , nothing we had worked .
The guy that cought the fish used fresh roe .
The piers are producing salmon from what the other guys on the river said .
Pentwater , yep the fish are in at the bridge .

If you get a chance stop by the fish cleaning station with a old pickle jar and get yourself some free spawn .
curing is easy and there are a couple of different spawn vices on the market , at $5.50 a 1/2 oz. you can save yourself a whole lot of coinage [cool].

Whitehall,
No Kings. Saw one guy had one one fishing off the pier but he didn't have a net and it got off.
We landed 5 "ok" bass and one very large bluegill. Pic to follow.... I gotta run off to work now.

a very odd run happened on the muskegon river today...in about 90 degree heat mid day, my family and i were of course on salmon patrol ( swimming in the river [laugh]) when all of a sudden the ole lady was yelling and making for the bank as fast as she could, 50-100 came in all at once didnt stop to even say hi, all coho maybe a king or a steely or a brown mixed in there but they came fast and did not stop at any resting spots i knew of, went to a couple awesome spots that are impossible for regular fisherpeople to get too, and then waited at the end of Giles road for them, a couple big fish jumps heard as darkness was closing in but no sign of them, friend of mine was waiting for them to chicken out and come back down the river but never saw them again, .... THEN
heh nothing spectacular just had a hard rain for a few minutes so went down to the river to watch the bridge ( did i forget to mention this was at 3am) waited til 6 am and saw nothing but a sucker ( no i wasnt looking in a mirror )
all i have for now will post more reports as i have them ( sounds like im heading to tippy, anyone want to spilt the gas if near muskegon? ) [Today]

Going to Tippy today huh? Hmmmm that's really tempting........... Pretty sure the little Mrs. would be a bit [mad] with me though. Today is her first and only night off for the week/weekend so not so sure that would go over to well.
Depending on weather, I'm going/planing to hit the road early early either Sat or Sun (or maybe both[ ]) and hit the Bear river in Petoskey in the morning (getting good reports from up there) and then hit Tippy in the evening on the way back down. Anyone wanting to tag along and share gas is welcome. I live just south of GR and will be going straight up on 131. Let me know.
Good Fishin
~Mike

this Stoney Creek is located between the white river and the pentwater river, guess it is a short one and goes into stoney lake.
Did not make it to the tippy today low on money so stalked the muskegon looking for any sign and since a nice cold front moved in was hoping for some anxious fish, no such luck but the ole lady while patiently waiting for me to get done wading up and down the river caught a very nice catfish sorry pic is so big[inline IM000148.JPG]

thanks to whomever fixed the pic, and yeah bent the rod, fight was longer than most salmon i fight but heh, she kept her tip up and let the fish tire itself out, it is the biggest fish she ever caught and we did take it home, put it in the tub, and then she learned that you have to clean what you catch ....needless to say we went back to the river and let it go since it was still very very much alive. got to love it when those catfish will stay alive for hours, hopefully it didnt hurt it to much, it swam away quite fast once it tasted the river
very much loving this rain, the ole lady wont take me out in it to the river even though im promising her that this is what they have been waiting for, she said so what....they will still be running at the end of october so theres no big rush.
non fisher women jeesh they just do not understand the run.

I sat on stoney creek over near rodchester for an hour last thursday morn early, that was all the time I had to play before I had to get back to workin on my hobby.
I didnt get any thing but I did see a nice stealie get pulled in by a fly slinger... I sat on shore near the parking lot he was a good 40 yards up the river from me twards the rr tracks.. so I didnt get a chance to see what colors he was usin.
the stealies and other trout in stoney creek here are planted a couple times a year and is one of those sites that are open year round, fast water so it dosnt freeze...[shocked]

My fishing rods have been sitting in the truck all summer and are starting to get a little ticked off that I haven't let them out to play .
I think if all goes right they might get a chance sunday .
I found out that waxeys in the fridge don't last as long as spawn does [blush].
