Wow....how cool is that? Hopefully it's nothing like when animals sense a disaster and try to flee to a safer place.

My guess would be that genetics/animal behavior is telling them that it is time to head upstream. Just happened that man put a dam in the way and they had nowhere else to go. Just a thought.

Wow, can you imagine trying to land a 14' sturgeon? That fish should weigh over 1,500 pounds! That just gets me that much more excited to get after them again in a couple weeks. Hopefully, this is my 8' sturgeon trip.

Thanks for sharing. That is really weird. The Columbia Gorge is an awesome place. I wish I lived closer. Has anyone fished for salmon from a boat on the Deschutes River ???

Hi Luckbob - I have fished the mouth of the Deschutes for the last several years during
the fall kings run in September. I have more trolling plugs and jigs than I could ever use
in a week. I am original from The Dalles and grew up fishing the columbia for sturgeon,
steelhead, and salmon.

How bout you - do you fish Deschutes much? If so I can give you alot of pointers.
