Manistee river report

Well we just returned from the manistee and it wasn't much .
from the dam on down the water was muddy , of the 150 or so people there we saw only 2 fish cought for the day .
we were told that fishing was better last tuesday .

Sorry I wasn't able to make it up there to show ya how to catch some fish []. I was just far to sick. After spending most of the week in bed bringing up pieces of lung there was no way the little wifey was going to let me sneek out. Good news is I was able to go an entire day today without using my rescue inhaler. It still hurts to cough but it least it doesn't feel like there are a bunch of little crittters inside my lungs with wire brushes.... not a good week... not good at all.

I did receive my new reel in the mail. Looks like it's going to work out good. Can't wait to put it to use. Maybe towards the end of the week i'll be well enough to get out the door with my tackle box.

[left]4/4/8[/left] [left]Bright sun, warm weather, colored water, high fishing pressure, not as many fish as normal, kinda describes the past couple days. But the warm weather sure feels good, and we are find a couple fish per person per day. Fishing pressure is high as it should be but a slow moving spring run is making fishing more difficult.[/left] [left]Nymphs took most of our fish today, minnow patterns and small leech patterns did the best. The run off from the Pine River finally make it's way through the back waters of Tippy and have entered the Manistee. We have greenish/ clay run off colored water. It sounds like a report from some of the guys fishing the sawdust hole .
We almost hit that strech of the river , but we were pushing the E on the gas tank at the time . Most of the guys were parked at the top of the hill after you got to the end of the road and were warning of taking the road down to the river . I looked at the road , no problem for my truck , my driveway is a lot steeper and covered in ice .
I did talk to a angler from St.Louis that had been fly fishing that area for the last 3 days , no luck for him but he had seen a few taken .
We hit the highbridge strech after gassing up the truck , plenty of boats were in the river .

The upper streches of the pier markette and the little manistee were suposibly producing some guys said , others said they wern't seeing any action at all .
Best reports were comming from your home river [cool] .
