Steelhead fishing report - Portland Metro area
#1
We fished several of the Portland Metro rivers over the last two weeks and the results are a little spotty. Our strongest results came from the Clackamas between Barton and Carver, with three fish for the day using diver and bait and plugs. The Sandy river is producing fish but it is a challenge to find good holding water as the lower river is still plugged with moving sand from the flood last winter. We tested the new Gulp Alive shrimp bait and it fished as well as sandshrimp or eggs when using them in a diver and bait setup. This is going to really open some options up for us

Do you ever fish the whillamette(sp?)? My uncle lives along the river. He has been catching quite a few steelies lately. He has been catching alot of shaker sturgeon lately too with a keeper or 2 every time he goes.[cool]

[#000000]Actually, the guys have have been doing very well both [/#000000][#000000]plunking and sidedrifting for steelhead in the Meldrum bar area, just below the mouth of the Clackamas (on the Willamette). Going out with one of Oregon's best guides tomorrow, so I'll have a fresh report to post the next time I sign on here. [/#000000]

Yep, that's the spot. You need to check out this site. He is revolutionizing the steelhead/salmon fishing industry with these blades.martinstackleco.com
