Well I finally got to Carey Lake and it was a beautifull day! Had 2 great friends with and we solved most of our worlds problem for Saturday anyway. How was the fishing you ask? Well as usual for me, the fishin was great but we never got a nibble.
Most of the area is canals and runs around 5' deep, there are some scattered holes maybe 10' and we were on them but my finder never saw a fish. I am still trying to understand how the sidefinder part works cause I get bounce off of something most of the time. Not sure if it is bouncing off the ice at acertain wave length or what.
There is a hot springs that comes into Carey and I'm wondering if most of the fish in that area migrate to that area. The warmer water keeps a large area open. Makes sense since there would be more food there, but I don't know for a fact that is where the fish were.
During the summer though this is a blast in a tube or pontoon or canoe. The action is quite good especially with ultra light or a fly rod. This summer I will have to mark out some of the deeper holes so next year I will know where to drill and check out to see if the fish stay in the canals or move out.
Here's some picutres.
