Ice Fishing
#1
Who else is ready for the ice?

As soon as my elk hunt is over at the end of the month I'm going to be searching for some hard water to fish.

Would any of you be interested in an ice fly / ice jig swap?

Hey Brian,

Post this very question on the Utah board as well...there are a few fly tiers and jig makers there.

As for me, I try to make jigs but it wouldn't be anything you would want. My painting skills are horrible, but pouring lead is something I am better at.

petty4life,

I wouldn't mind some jig heads in exchange for tying you some ice flies or other jigs.

fish1on,

I would be happy to swap some jigs with you. If you would rather pour the lead and have me tie that would be fine too.

Lets wait to work out the details until other people get a chance to view this and decide if they would be interested in an ice jig/ice fly swap. I could host it and post the rules on another thread. I'm just trying to get an idea if other people would be interested.

If anyone else is interested in an ice fly/jig swap post a response to this thread and I will set one up. If no one else posts a response to this thread by then end of November I will assume no one else is interested.

Brian, do you happen to know which lakes, if any, in the Boise area freeze over for ice fishing? I would be thinking Cascade and maybe Payette, but not sure. Thanks!

I wouldn't be the one to ask about lakes around Boise. There are several other guys that post here that would know more than I do about those lakes. Maybe some of them will be able to give you a better idea.
Cascade and Payette should both freeze over. I've even heard of a little ice forming on parts of Brownlee.
