Yes guys , the Brethren side of the coffer was the place to be at once again.
Now I noticed most people were fishing just above the boat launch , not taking the extra time to give the coffer a once over , boy did they miss a great oppurtunity for some fish .
I saw huge pinks & kings porpusing along the wall in the coffer just below the dam .
Heck a bobber and a few waxeys shoulda done the trick , but very few guys gave it a shot .
Now on the welston side , fishing has improved since my last visit .
The salmon were a little dark for the most part with a few fresh run fish being taken .
I had a threesome of some kids just near the cable shooting out flys on 20#test line , doing pretty good too . then a big fresh hen got ahold of the line from the taller of the boys, He fought it with all his might . The salmon made a run under the cable ,musta been 20 minutes or more before the fish came back out from under it and went downriver and into a landing net .
Wouldn't you know it a hour later the D.N.R. shows up , gives the boy a ticket and makes him release that huge king .
Seems that boy went under the cable during the battle ( not a safe move at all ), Tresspassing !
Should the kid have gone under the cable , no , that's too riskey , but tresspassing ?????????
The kid was in the water standing on the bottom , that's not tresspassing .
Chalk one up for big business I guess , money talks .

Well no fish for me , I arrived too late in the day and on the wrong side of the river , but all is not lost .
For dinner , squirlle !
Some of you may have tried squirlle and not enjoyed the taste , kinda gamey . Have I got a simple recipe for you that may change your mind .
In a 9" frypan i put a couple tablespoons of drippins (bacon fat ) and browned my squirrle quarters in it .
When they were all browned I dumped a full can of beer in the pan and covered it with a lid and turned the heat down to simmer .
Every so often , flip those quartes , as soon as the beer evaporates , its done .

You can either eat it like it is or , using the same pan , debone the meat , drop a can of your favorite cream of mushroom soup into the pan (adding only half the water required for the soup ), add the meat and bring to a slow boil . Add a little cooking wine for a bit more flavor if you like .
Ladel it out onto a bed of rice and dig in !
Man, that's eating good !
