Michigan law enforcement DNR reports???
#1
I have been reading these reports for a few years now and I notice that there is a lot of reports of keeping out of season and undersized Bass, what I am wondering? are the bass diffrent in lower michigan, cause the ones we get up here are small mouths and rock bass, niether of these bass up here are fit to eat, Id rather eat a use tire off a semi found lieing on the side of the high way, I find bass to stink just too stick a knife in to clean them, maybe its just cause I am so use to eatting fish like perch and walleye and whitefish and all the salmon jacks I catch, but any how are DNR law officers sure are earning there keep down state righting tickets for out of season and undersized bass, I congradulate are fine CO's for there hard work and a job well done, t
Thanks to all CO's that mite read this, if you do read this stop in and tell us who you are, we could use a michigan CO to give us some heads up on new laws and maybe answer a few question and of coarse tell us your favorite place to fish lol have a great day, FISH ON!!!

large mouth small mouth and rock bass are only as good as the water they come out of.

small mouth being the cleanest of the three because they prefer cleaner cooler water.

if the water is the least bit muddy the bass can not release their sweat properly, no they dont sweat in the way we do, the do excreat fluids from their skins, thay is why they are slimy when you handle them.

there is no doubt there are a lot of people who poach fish. I am sure there is ileagle selling of the fish as well. but I havent heard tell of any thing like that on this forum. True people will catch them out of season, that cant be helped, bass will hit most any thing with a hook on it.... That is why we have multi million dollars worth of tournies every year.

I particulary dont care for the taist of summer bass, but early season bass closer to the minnimum size are the best eating or december bass caught though the ice is pretty good too. well lets just say they are similar to cod during these periods.

I agree, we all have our favorite fish and I would much prefer gills perch and walleye over bass any day of the week.

Best tip I've ever heard for a good bass recipe is to substitute walleye for the bass.

Bass are a sport fish for me. You'll see me only snapping pics of them and I stay away from their beds until their season is open.

I only target them while in season when I need a new photo or I want to make fish nuggets.

using a beer batter and a dash of cheyanne pepper and a dash of sugar,

I fillett then skin the bass, then cut the fillett in half cutting on both sides of the rib bones to remove.

then I french cut the strips in to half inch lenths. making the perfect frying nuggets.

dipping in to the batter I deap fry them in a cast iron skillet at a temp of 350 degrees using only all crisco shortining. (NO COOKING OIL)

the ones I eat are between 14-18 inches, noting bigger goes in the fry pan...

Well to me a fish in the fry pan ain't all that bad , even Bass [Wink].
Batter fried gills , then chilled , My favorite !
A good Perch or Walleye dinner , number two .
Pike fried with some taters at camp , oh now thats eating good .
Let's not forget a cat fish fry , bullheads , yummy yummy in the tummy .
Po' mans crab , good old sheephead boiled and chilled , dip it in some hot melted butter and your eating like a king !

The C.O.'s need a hand with the poachers , turned a couple guys in myself once , undersized and out of season , they just kept throwing them in there cooler after I informed them about the season and take .
Called the local boys in , they checked them out and called the D.N.R. to do the tickiting , 30 + illeagle fish were in that cooler .
Sometimes ya gotta step up to the plate and do the right thing , anyone says different about it can pound sand up there wazoo as far as I'm concerned .
