American Falls 2/17/06
#1
Fished the upper end of Ameirican Falls today for about an hour. I checked a few different places and the ice was only about 4"-5" thick in most places. There were several places with open water but most of the upper end of the resevoir is frozen over. I didn't put any fish on the ice.[pirate] I had what looked like a bite and a couple jigs had pieces of night crawler missing. It was hard to spot bites because the wind was blowing so hard.[unsure] I might try it again on the upper end if it isn't wind they day I want to go. If it warms up and is windy the ice on the upper end will go fast.

I decided to try to get out of the wind a little by going over to McTucker Ponds. Ice were I fished was only about 5" thick. It was still blowing fairly strong at the McTucker Ponds but not as bad as it was at American Falls. In about 45 minutes at Mctucker Ponds I was able to ice two small planter rainbows. The wind along with the low temps made it a cold day to be out.

Thanks Brian for all of your reports on AF. You are giving me the itch to try it sometime. I am only about 1 hour and 15 min from there. It is closer to me then many of the waters in Utah. I just am too tight to spend the 80+ bucks for an Idaho license.[Sad] About to only place I have fished in Idaho is Twin and Devil's creek a couple of time. They are both closer to me than my favorite fishing hole here in Cache Valley, that being Porcupine which is on the south end of CV. Again Brian thanks for giving me the burn! [cool]
