This week I want to talk about Tygerleader. I picked some of this up at a local tackle store. It's a tieable steel leader that can be knotted as easily as a thick mono line. It is plastic coated and stays very limp. A good product for my pike rigs and blue fish leaders. Comes in 2lb - 120lb. They say you can tie it to your lure or line. I didn't find it that easy, but I had no problem putting it on a swivel.

I use a similar product different manufacture and it only comes in 20 pound test but will hold mugh more.
the only knot I can tie with it is a loop knot, I can tie other knots but the quality of the knots is well lets say I would not be showing it around to any one.
one three hundred foot spool cost fifteen fishbacks.
I have found a way to make leaders with it, the tools run around thirtyfive dollars to make a decent leader. the most expencive tool is a pair of cutters that will make a clean snip. you dont want any thing that will fray the brade when you clip it because the fish will feal the fray and will release before you can set the hook.
if any one would like to see how I did it they can look at the product testers board under walleye leaders testers.
I have leaders I made with this stuff that I have had for five years now, I love the thin plastic coated stainless steel design.
It may not be worth the investment for the average angler to tool up for this material. especialy if you can find some one who can make leaders for you.
I would give it a tripple A rating regardless to the short coming of being able to tie the line.

Sounds like DaveT found it cheaper than I did. I got mine in Oldsaybrook and I think it was only 15ft for about $15.00
