What ever happened to Maggots
#1
A few years back the best ice-fishing bait that was available (In my opinion) was maggots. You could purchase them from Sportsman's or Angler's Inn. They are tough & lively and caught fish. Sometime you could even get them in different colors - red, blue, white.

I did miss my opportunity to grow my own with a jar, rotten meat, and flies but the cold has caused the flies to be missing....

Any Leads on this bait would be great or if you have any spare flies - please let me know - thanks.....

Have you tried online? Maybe Hooked carries them. They're often called spikes. And I think the term used by the bait dealers online is Eurolarvae. You can get them plain or colored.

They are tough and hardy. And they do catch fish.

Good luck, and let us know if you find 'em.

I have seen them for sale in the Logan area but Fishrmn is right about ordering them on line. Maybe Cabela's sells them.
