Hey there guys,
Fished the 3/4 day boat Premier today. Danny and Jimmy ran the boat today with Mikie on deck and Bill in the galley. Sorry for the cookie cutter start! Got some nice sardines at the bait receiver and .... my Jimmy's 'smelt' special sandwich
Got barracuda very early in the morning on top with purple/blue/white or purple/black/white surface jigs doing the damage. Bait was almost a no go! I caught a couple of shorts on Kalin green metal-flake swimbaits but still not the right deal.
Seems like where there were birds...... there were fishys ...Doh ... and our doggie friends i.e. sea lions tooooooo!
The barracuda were a very nice grade of 6-7-8, and maybeeeee a 9 pounder here and there who were hitting the iron but often short striking. Mustard or yellow/green/white (scrambled egg) seemed to work later in the day .
I got a few after trying four different ways jigs, plastics, sardines, and anchovies. Wished there were more chovies. In the afternoon ...... suprisingly ..... the fish came up again. I was shocked because I figured the day was done on cuda as it has been in the last few days. Go figure.
DFG guy visited us in a Zodiac and asked for fishing licenses. Nice guy..... boat was 100% percent.
Anglers who wanted fish ..... had plenty to take home. Great weather, boat/crew, and fishin' buddies old and just met.
Going out again Friday!
