My new FC4 setup
#1
Well, I finally joined the FC4 club, and I was so excited I had to come post some pics of my setup. I've been using my round tube for 8 or 9 years now, and now finally can get something a bit more modern and mobile. I pulled out my fins and noticed the rubber was cracking on the ankle straps, so I got some replacements for that too. Take a look at the old straps, I could have easily lost one to the depths, and my fins do not float!!!

Here is my Fish Cat 4 that I got from Sportsmans Warehouse for $139. Notice that it came with the red two-way pump, a repair kit including a tiny thing of aquaseal (not shown), and the nice heavy duty carrying bag that you see behind the tube.

I got my rod holder all set up on there. It holds two rods, which can be 1 fly rod and 1 spinning, or 2 spinning rods. I haven't attached the other single rod holder yet for the right side (casting side). Of course, it wouldn't be the same without the BFT sticker on the rod holder!!

Here you can see it with a rod in each holder.

It looks like I'm ready to go, just need to get out on the maiden voyage now!![cool]

Welcome to the Fish Cat Club - I have one of the older models. And today I am also in the process of giving it a refit - thanks to the many suggestions of TubeDude - You should chat with him for some real good customizing trick-out tips - he's got a million of them.

Hey I have a question for you - my fins are the cheapo depot kind and it has been suggested to me that for better performance(I am hoping it's it really the fins and not me) I should look into getting different ones.

What kind did you get and where did you get them ? Are they the expensive scuba kind ? How much did you have to pay for them ?

Thanks bloodhound. The brand of my fins is "Stillwater". I bought them at Park's Sportsman about 8 years ago for 20 or 30 bucks, can't remember which. They are definitely not expensive, nor are they diving fins. I'm sure the force fins would work a lot better, but I'm not willing to shell out that kinda cash. Plus, these have always worked perfectly well for me -- I'm still young and can kick around for quite some time as long as it's not against a huge wind.

I hear it's a lot easier to move around with the FC4 anyway, compared to the donut I used before.
