Ventura Pier fishing report 4/15/05
#1
We headed down to the Ventura Pier to get in some fishing time and to entertain a guest from out of town. Powermaker came out to visit us from Las Vegas.

We stayed there and fished from about 5:pm till about 4:00am on Saturday. From there we left to catch the boat in the Channel Island Sportsfishing landing.

We caught Shovelnose Sand sharks, Calico Rock Fish, a few Walleye surf perch and pompanos.[cool]

Hey there TubeN2,

Caught a 3 1/2 foot shovelnose at Catalina 2 weeks ago. At least it didn't fight like a bat ray with makes you think its a yellow! Ever notice how the shovelnose and the guitarfish are so similar in appearance .... in general. Unless you look real close of course!

Released of course. Heard about the free gaff incident?

Good for you guys,

JapanRon

[size 2] [font "Comic sans MS"] tubeN2, finally moseyed over here to the CA board. Anyway had a good time pretending to fish, not much action. But, had some great conversation and clam chowder. Also it made a nice break for the hotel room blues.

Take care,
David

We enjoyed having you out here as well. The action didn't pick up till you left. hee hee.

Sometimes it's slow over there and sometimes it rocks.

Check the report for the week after. We did some decent rocking there.[cool]

I just pay them off with squid. hee hee.

That pier is wierd sometimes. They usually bite well in the day and shut off around 3:00. Then it picks back up again around 7 to 9pm.[cool]
