[size 1]Hey guys,

A kayaker caught a 15 pound 9 ounce record calico bass recently down Dana Point way. Will it be a record.... stay tuned!

JapanRon:Those kayakers really got it down pat. There's a group of them trolling for threshers here locally and catching big ones in the process. They are launching in the bays and paddling out to deeper water where they troll rapalas.I suppose they get them because they can troll just behind the surf line where those studs lurk. I know these guys are looking for the meat balls and trolling forth and back from every direction through the bait. One guy hooked a 150 pounder and decided to chance it and go through the surf rather than paddle back 2 miles to calm water. He did and made it OK but scared 400 beach people out of their shorts in the process.A 150 pounder is impressively large!

Hi there gvanzant,

Shark size doesn't bother me too much ... it's when you imagine how wide they can open their mouths and or unhinge their jaws, or whatever they do, to be able to swallow a VW Beetle.

When you see nothin' but a set of dentures when they are serious about eating something that scares the heck out of me!

Even the little guys become twice as big! ha ha
