Capt. Joe Bogan, Jamaica II, Brielle, described the fishing 12 miles east of Manasquan Inlet as "spectacular."
Rivero Sanchez of Perth Amboy won the pool on Saturday's trip with a 14-pound, 5-ounce blue.
"Slaughtered the big blues Saturday night," Bogan said. "All you wanted -- 5 to 12 pounds."
Capt. Hank Leonard said the Golden Eagle has been docking with good catches of blues days and nights, and the fish have been taken on jigs and bait.
"It's been an excellent bluefishing season overall," he said. "All last week was good. It backed off a little Sunday, but it was still good fishing for fish up to 12 pounds."
Capt. Ed Skwara, Hello Dolly out of Point Pleasant, fished the Farms with the Frank Atcheson party, and they caught all the blues they wanted by 11 a.m. Saturday, and switched to fluke off Deal.
Skwara and his son Ed Jr. were out Sunday with the Jim Willey party from Pennington, and they caught six bluefin tuna in the Glory Hole, but all were just shy of the 27-inch minimum.
Skwara said the fish were loaded with squid, and hit cedar plugs and spreader bars in water that looked great, and was loaded with life.
Paul Mikelson and Nate Stone trolled the Glory Hole with the Regulator 26 out of Brielle, and they caught 11 bluefins and a 10-pound dolphin. Mikelson told Dave Arbeitman of The Reel Seat, Brielle, that the action was on squid spoons, Zuker daisy chains and small jets.
Capt. Lou Farris was at the helm of Joe Natoli's Janice out of Brielle when they hooked a blue marlin in the Hudson Canyon that Natoli fought and released. They estimated the blue was in the 500-pound class.
Natoli said the fish took a horse ballyhoo with an Island Express in front. They also caught the limit of yellowfin tuna up to 50 pounds on ballyhoo and Reel Seat Spreader Bars.
Capt. Jimmy Elliott, Suzie Girl, Belmar, said the catches of bluefish through Saturday were as good as they get.
"Saturday night I was was in the Mud Hole - 120 feet of water - and you couldn't have wanted better fishing," he said. "Both the Suzie Girl and the Rosie R have been coming in with good catches from the Farms to the East Bank in 180 feet of water."
Elliott described fluke fishing as "decent" with swarms of throwbacks in 25 to 35 feet of water. Joe Conti of Belmar had a 9 1/4-pound fluke Friday off Sea Girt.
Capt. Fred Coles Jr. of the Freddy C out of the state marina in Leonardo is pleased with the fluke fishing during the day, and striped bass fishing at night. Richard DeSewa, East Brunswick, had a 12-pound, 2-ounce fluke to win a recent pool.
Tom Hiemstra and Jake Jarmicki, both of Ocean Township, split the pool on the Miss Belmar Princess, Belmar, recently with 4-pound fluke. Capt. Fred Kern reported lots of small fluke on the grounds north of Deal where he has been fishing.
Capt. Tom Buban, Atlantic Star, Atlantic Highlands, said he has been drifting the grounds around the point of Sandy Hook and Raritan Reach, and picking a mix of small fluke and keepers.
Jeanie An, Bogota, won a pool with a 7-pounder.
