Saturday,06/26/04- Hit the water early (5 a.m.)and headed over to the Arizona side. Great day to be on the water, smooth as glass. Trolled between Burro Point and Fishfinder Cove for about an hour using Rattle Traps, landed three small stripers (1 1/2 lbs.) I soon noticed schools of small stripers feeding on top of the water so I moved in for some top water action. The fish were not really boiling, they were kind of rolling on the surface and splashing here and there. I used a small (3 in.) Storm Wildeye swim bait to land five more fish. It was a lot of fun chasing those quick little fish with the electric motor. I must have casted 20 times for each fish I managed to catch. I was off the water by 8:30 a.m.
Sunday,06/27/04- Hit the water early (5 a.m. again)and headed for the same spot and started trolling. The Rattle Traps landed two stripers about 2 lbs. each. Only one cove revieled any surface action and I only managed to land one small striper from it. Off the water by 8:00 a.m.
What a great weekend of fishing! The water was calm, I caught a few fish, and it seemed like I had the entire area to myself. Two anglers that I talked to at the fish cleaning station (that were very successful) told me that they had anchored and fished with anchovies. One at Sand Island and the other outside of Boulder Beach.
