I went fishing for Stripers today on the Fishermen Out of the Atlantic Highlands we went out to Sandy hook bay first and only 1 striper was caught and a load of small dogfish so the Captain pulled anchor and went in search of stripers we went out into the atlantic ocean and headed south for a little and he marked some fish so he dropped anchor and again only one striper caught and another ton of small dogfish sooff we went again in search of stripers we saw some bird working some bait so he stopprd the boat and we cast into the school of bait and the only thing there was bluefish so after a few of them he went searching again bottom line is we never found the stripers they just weren't around tonight and it wasn't due to a lack of effort by the capt and crew they worked hard to find us some fish but the spring striper season is winding down here as the bulk of the stripers move north on their migration there are always a few straglers or resident fish that hang around but its not worth the effort to target them they now become a bonus catch while fishing for other species Thanks to the Captain and crew for their tremendous effort to find them for us even though there was only 13 guys on the boat they still went all out
