i missed the foote site steelhead run!

well i missed it or this is the worst the spring run of stealhead there has been in a long time on the east side . only a dosen fly guys at the meathole and me by my lonesome at the dam . the water was high and clear , browns jumping near the bottom and a couple suckers was all i recived for my trip . the browns were barley leagle for me , 14" so they went back in to put on some more weight . i like them up and over 20" . the suckers were spawned out but could have brought another couple master anglers patches easily . not one bit of crome jumping the spillway , none in the holes , not a single one saw all day as reported by a vlyman i conversed with , he had been there since daybreak . i gotta blame the bad run this year on the weather , and the fact that the dnr continues to sell trawler permits at the mouth of the river . if they would just quit opening up that area to comercial fishing just think of all the money that would be save from restocking programs . yea, us fishermen would do a lot better too . oh well , guess i'll just have to wait for the fall runs now . with more snow this morning , that should be real soon around here . lol ! personaly I think the comercial netters should have to buy the fish from the state...

at least re-emberce the state what it cost them to plant the fish in the first place.

it wouldnt make much difference in price of salmon at the fish market. I already cant afford to buy salmon there.

We have some pay to play lakes around here in Cali that charge you by the pound of fish caught. You are right Dave. They should at least charge a reimbursement fee.
