Crappie fishing has cooled down just a little. Indications suggest at least some of the crappie have spawned or are now spawning. Fishermen are catching just a few crappie. Those that are catching fish are catching them in nearly every location and in every manner possible. Some are very shallow, some are on the river and a few are in between. Minnows and jigs are both productive. Bass fishing has remained steady. Spinnerbaits and crankbaits are being cast along shallow flats to catch a few fish. Flippers are catching bigger fish and larger stringers. Bluegill are being caught shallow in the sloughs and coves on worms and small jigs. A few are being caught around slough and creek openings along the bottom using worms. Catfish are being caught in the main channel in the lower section of the lake. Crappie fishermen are catching a lot of catfish in very shallow water on jigs in the upper portion of the lake. Catfish fishermen could probably have a really good time if they would move off of the river and into the shallows.
