MARLIN: THE FISHING WAS SLOW THIS LAST WEEK, THE WATER COOLED DOWN ON THE PACIFIC SIDE VERY GREEN IN A LOT OF AREAS IT HAS BEEN AFFECTING THE FISHING. YESTERDAY WE CAUGHT A COUPLE OF MARLIN ONE BLUE MARLIN. MORE VIDEOS COMING UP ON FACEBOOK. THEY ARE BITING ON PITCHED LIVE BAIT.
TUNA: THEY HAVE BEEN A FEW FOOTBALLS FAR OFFSHORE IN THE SEA OF CORTEZ. ONLY A FEW OF THE VERY BIG YACHTS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND THEM, THEY ARE OUT OF OUR RANGE.
DORADO: FEW DORADO SHOWING UP IN PAIRS THEY ARE VERY SMALL, SOME NICE ONES OVER 15LBS. IT IS VERY SLOW FOR THEM WATER TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN CHANGING VERY DRASTICALLY.
WAHOO: SLOW FISHING FOR THE WAHOO RIGHT NOW NO REPORTS RIGHT NOW.
INSHORE FISHING: WE ARE STILL CATCHING A FEW NICE BONITA COUPLE OF MILES OFFSHORE IN THE SEA OF CORTEZ TROLLING LURES.
BOTTOM FISHING: BOTTOM FISHING SLOW WITH TEMPERATURE CHANGE.

BEWARE:
Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You don’t want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. AMBERJACK:
Amberjack is an Atlantic and Pacific fish of the Carangidae family (genus Seriola). They are a game fish, most often found in the warmer parts of ocean. There are many variations of Amberjack, including greater amberjack (Atlantic), lesser amberjack (Atlantic), Almaco jack (Pacific), yellowtail (Pacific), and the banded rudderfish (Atlantic).
Lesser amberjacks, Seriola fasciata, have proportionately larger eyes and deeper bodies than greater amberjacks. They are olive green or brownish-black with silver sides, and usually have a dark band extending upward from their eyes. Juveniles have split or wavy bars on their sides. The adults are usually under 5 kg (10 lbs). They are found deeper than other jacks, commonly 50 to 130 m (30 to 70 fathoms).
Amberjacks are voracious predators, which feed on squid, fish, and crustaceans, and are thought to spawn offshore throughout most of the year.
Juveniles can be caught in about 25 feet (7.6 m) of water, near floating objects.
FROM THE ADMIRALS KITCHEN!
JC’S GRILLED AMBERJACK W/ CREAM SAUCE:
INGREDIENTS:
• 2 teaspoons salt-free steak grilling blend (such as Mrs. Dash)
• 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh tarragon
• Cooking spray
• 4 (6-ounce) amberjack fillets (about 3/4 inch thick)
• 1 lemon
• Country-Style Dijon Cream Sauce
Step 1
Combine steak seasoning and tarragon in a small bowl; set aside.
Step 2
Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Coat fillets with cooking spray, and rub with seasoning mixture. Add fish to pan. Cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until fillets flake easily when tested with a fork.
Step 3
While fish cooks, grate 1 teaspoon rind from lemon; squeeze juice to measure 1 tablespoon. Reserve lemon rind for Country-Style Dijon Cream Sauce.
Step 4
Place 1 fillet on each of 4 serving plates. Drizzle fillets evenly with lemon juice, and top with a dollop of cream sauce.
JC’S PINA COLADA:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup ice
1/2 cup diced pineapple, frozen
2 ounces pineapple juice
2 ounces Coco Lopez coconut cream
1 1/2 ounces white rum
1 ounce dark rum
Pineapple slices
Directions
Put the ice, frozen pineapple, juice, coconut cream, and the white and dark rums into a blender. Blend until smooth and frosty. Pour the drink into 2 glasses and garnish the rim with pineapple slices.
