Boyd lake catfish
#1
fished Boyd lake 9-9 with a friend for some walleye. I taught him how to troll a bottom bouncer. He caught 1 walleye 15in. and we caught a couple of perch. We went to the south end and tried for some bass. Throwing some jig&pig blue and white with a craw trailer. Didn't get any bass but I caught this 9lb. catfish.

Nice cat Chuck, that lake has some good fish in it. I'm curious, how long have the walleye been in there, sorry if you already told me but it seems most of them are about the same size.
Cat's have really been showing up big time at Willard this year, some are really nice, in the upper 20" range, did you measure that 9 lber?

I've been see the Willard reports and yea there have been a lot of good cats. This one was just right at 30in. I haven't caught a catfish that big sense I was in high school. I forgot how hard they pull, good fight for sure
Yea Boyd has quite a few different species of fish in it. It's a real popular lake because it's right in town and it's public. I'm not sure how long the walleye have been in there. I have a neighbor that has caught a 28in. One. I think there are some good ones in there just need to find them. I still need to find where they spawn at. I think some spawn at the north east side, there's a rock shore line kinda like Willard bay. It's a couple hundred yards long. I'm headed up to carter reservoir this Thursday, we'll see how we do.
